triage

route raw input to the department and stage that owns the outcome

Says what an incoming item is, in one word, and routes it to the department that owns the outcome, at the first stage of its lifecycle. If nothing owns it, that gap is the finding.

Skill — triage

Invoke in any agent conversation with /triage. The steps below are a starting opinion, and they are what runs — edit them until they describe how this company's inbox gets emptied.

When to use. On anything that arrived without a home: a support thread, a note from a call, an idea in a message, a bug someone mentioned in passing.

Steps.

  1. Say what it is in one word — bug, request, idea, question, noise — and be willing to say noise.
  2. Route it to the department that owns the outcome, not the one that happened to receive it, and to the first stage of that department's lifecycle.
  3. If nothing owns it, that is the finding. Name the gap rather than parking the item somewhere plausible.
  4. Title it as the thing to be done, not as the thing that was said.
  5. Keep the original words in the body, with who said it and when. The paraphrase is yours; the quote is theirs.
  6. One home per item. A copy in two departments is two things going stale.
